Confirmation of Payee is a new way of giving customers the greater assurance that they are sending payments to the intended recipient, helping them to avoid making accidental, misdirected payments to the wrong account holder, as well as providing another layer of protection in the fight against fraud and scams.

Some high street banks have already enabled the Confirmation on Payee and will therefore check the name of the payee when processing payments, but some of them can verify only internal payees (paying to the account holder within same bank).
